Yeah, that was the main problem. Well, other than get it like when we were talking about early about getting people into it Like most of the people even the old guys they they often feels it hard When I mix it in the water the level to warm up and you go on your blow plank high plank low plank high plank and then do some shoulder touches and people screaming at that And By getting the the younger guys the blue Purple belt that are competing the especially purple belt that likes just skip warmup run away It's the guy that I had the most trouble keeping on On track right think Like they the younger competitors the bulking guys that they just want to come to roll They are like again, I'm just trying to go back to the first question that Adam put it up there like What was the problems when I started teaching? I? Think those were the guys that had the most until this day.
I think it's hard to get them Connect or zoomed in on there or how good it is for them like Even if they just trying to beating up people are going getting to class to the competition part of it and Should make them understand that that that that kind of warm-up still important for for the competition as well And for the heart for the heart training. It's a preparation for the hard part. I guess like Yeah Building the strength and conditioning Yeah Yeah, I'm so like yeah, I I Guess like you said since I wear the patch for so many years and I started doing yoga for BG even before I got certified again like was always been on on the on the app or before the app But a lot of people connected to yoga for BG I guess if you just say mobility or whatever they will start to think it's alright, but again, I guess media is Hard and especially nogey guys that come in and have this competition mentality and Of course everybody listens to Gordon Ryan these days and when he says he doesn't need to warm up everybody else thinks they don't need to warm up Or they he doesn't do mobility or whatever he said Unfortunately everybody listens to Gordon Ryan these days And then he complains that he can't shampoo his the back of his head because he's so fit Yeah Yeah, the problem there is as well he's how does he's like mid-twenties now as well isn't he so 2526 I guess yeah, so like He might not need it now, but in a few years time maybe You know if he was sat at a desk all day as well You know or if he was again like working hard doing a trade all day then training that's gonna that's gonna be wearing tear so that that's kind of That's a you know someone who's just doing jujitsu every day and things like that It's like it's kind of unrealistic for most people that do jujitsu isn't it so Unfortunately people are gonna listen to that but they're not gonna be in the same kind of really unique position that he's in so yeah I Don't know like yeah when I was young when I was my twin especially living in Brazil back in day like was warm I would just show up for the competition when they call my name put my gear and jump on the mat like today If I'm gonna compete I show up two hours later. Just to start warming up.
Just start my stretching like it's completely different It's not the same Yeah, yeah, maybe in a few years time he'll be like Yeah, okay nice So a little bit of my background When I did the level one, I had no BJ class in my body so I Had a few of knee injuries and operations up to 28 years of football. I Was professional football player and then I searched something for my body I was functional fitness trainer by the way and Tried to figure something out how I can improve my body to to do things for more 30 40 years and then I found be a yoga for BJ and through the curriculum and through the first level I Got to know that This is a very interesting thing I Got to know that this is something that can fit to a lot of type of athletes so I Picked everything what I saw that it is good for me Background of playing football. I had some volleyball players. I had other martial arts guys around me and also regular people and I mixed classes Every week two or three type of classes that had the topic the spine early in the morning six six in the morning I did something for the spine or at the weekend.
I did a restore class and Everything worked very good and then I started to Get interesting with BJ and yeah, I had now the first year of Brazilian jiu-jitsu I did not one year every week one or two trainings and yeah I kind of fall in love with it because it is something completely new for my body and I Give you a feedback what is happening with the guys I am in the gym training BJ and they see From where I come and what I'm doing So they see always that I'm doing some Strange warm-ups before and then I after class I laid down for 20 more minutes And I don't want to go home because I feel good there on the mats doing my stretching and there came some people And joined what I do and I told them and you have to understand I'm living in Hungary We are very close-minded here. They don't understand why they have to do yoga in Brazilian jiu-jitsu sports we are here Very strong Brazilian jiu-jitsu. This is Carson Gracie. They always tell me Carson Gracie is a strong type of Brazilian jiu-jitsu We cannot have weak people But then always when I roll with somebody and I had the last time very interesting experience.
I rolled with a brown belt guy. He's very high competitor and he Told after class that oh I love to roll with Thomas because he's so fucking flexible I can do everything with him. Okay, I struggle with him all the time But he feels very uncomfortable with me rolling because he told the class after Perhaps I don't want to have so much muscles. I want to have a little bit more flexibility like Thomas has I'm too new to Introduce these things there right in the moment I have some guys that are joining my classes which I Did like we have Brazilian jiu-jitsu training and then we go upstairs to my place and we do here half an hour of Restore class after after jiu-jitsu.
So it works, but it works on my way I have did it the type that it is working for me and I am not just working with Brazilian jiu-jitsu guys Brazilian jiu-jitsu is this whole new world for me. It is getting interesting But I'm a fresh. I'm I'm fresh meat for everybody. Like they say always Thank you.
Good. Thank you. Yeah, and it goes back to what what we were saying before you're kind of Your own advert for your classes as well when they begin, you know people are already noticing your your mobility and your flexibility and stuff and You're hanging around so even even if people are closed off to it now Eventually, you know and you put when you put on a costume I think I think I'll I think I'll check that out or you know taking those warm-ups and things so Super yeah Super useful and it's cool to hear that you're kind of turning the heads of the high belts as well Because they're they're the ones that are gonna kind of sway the others too Yeah We are Yeah We we all have similar So many similar things and we all have some unique things. So I i'm just purely enjoying this and i'm curious i'm curious about Everybody but Tiffany and i'm curious to hear your story if you're ready to share Yeah, I can share so Um, i'm actually not teaching in a jujitsu gym I teach um I teach seven classes a week, but I teach one at the rec center and I teach one at just a regular gym l.a fitness and So at the rec center, it's really interesting because the ladies in there they're older ladies in that class But i've incorporated some of the stuff Um from level one and even level two and although They can't do it the same way we might do it They still do it and it's really interesting because they're all learning to trust themselves and they're learning to push themselves in a new way so like where you know the In the the warm-up the new warm-up where you know, we jump and we switch our legs in the air They can't necessarily do that the same way But like I said, they can still do it and it's really fun to watch them try and it's really fun to watch them challenge themselves but um My classes at the gym um They're they're awesome.
Everybody everybody does everything everybody tries and everybody does their best and even from level one Where we put our leg out to the side and we lean over and we lean to the other side that was Challenging for people at the beginning, but now that's like a regular thing that they do and I don't know it's just it's been really fun to watch everybody progress that I teach and Things that were hard are now easy and then we move on to other things and then they're hard and then we keep doing it And they become easy So That is that that is amazing to I hear i'm gonna jump in there closer closer Okay, so So you have you have a bunch of older ladies doing the level one and level two You're what we say that that just goes to show that this is not specific This is so general and everybody Like when you just approach it because obviously when you have a bunch of older ladies that come back again and again It means you're doing it exactly right and you did not make this class about promoting yourself You are there Serving you are a servant of your students and it's about them. That's why they're coming back So you are a living testament that you can you can take this and take it absolutely anywhere like it You're you're in a in a place we would never have expected And we could never anticipate and you're doing it great. So that is awesome. You could just go on for an hour and talk I would just love listening.
So thank you so much Well, thank you. Thank you and the class has grown at the rec center There used to be three ladies and now it's it's up to ten ladies So they brought their friends one lady brought her mom and her mom is like I mean, I don't know how old she is, but she's got to be in her 70s and They're doing it Fuck yes, amazing amazing amazing and how about kids do you have any how are kids responding there? I see kids running around the group. Did you try anything like that?
So my yeah, my little girl my little boy they do yoga with me all the time there was um, There was one day where my little girl She just got out her yoga mat and she started doing yoga just like I do so like the same thing where she puts her leg Where we put our leg out to the side and we lean over they do their thing all the time So, I mean my kids my kids definitely do yoga, but I don't I don't necessarily teach kids Okay, awesome That's uh, awesome, thank you so much. Thank you So That's wicked, um, yeah, it's it's really good to hear how everyone's going, you know different directions, but everyone's Going in the right directions, you know, everyone's kind of Teaching to the way they wanted to or working towards it putting classes on Working on putting classes on and we're all just going to keep learning on the best way to do things best way to approach things Something that hasn't worked for you um You know, but you've learned from it. It's going to help us all, you know, especially like the the sort of facebook group and telegram aren't always you know, There's not always those who post the comments, but it's nice to see whenever there is something people chime in people give their their opinions or something that's worked for them and We're all just going to keep improving together and every group of level ones we have that come through Get better and better because Of the experience of the last one and every question that's asked gets, you know a better answer So it's good to see and that's as I said, that's exactly what we're doing here. We're Just like in the level one.
We're getting rid of any bad habits We had and learning all the good from each other and picking up on it
