The only thing I've been doing with the yoga for BJJ is the, is the cool down. Everyone loves it. I was out for a week or two came back and everyone, I miss you so much you got to start it back up. But for reasons I haven't been able to do it I'm going to get on the mat.
But everyone loves it. I have a couple of things else to say they for most of them, they're like, I feel like I'm injury free. They have an injury. Now they're not so much hurting.
What I want to say is they, they love it, I want to go back doing it. But for reasons, I'm not able to get back on the map for about two months, but I love doing this yoga for BJJ has helped me. I'm 56. I'm always hurting that's just part of life.
But I believe it has extremely helped me is help my patient, I mean, my patients my, my students, and also my instructors, so I just want to keep doing it in added to our curriculum. And that's, that's all I can tell you. I'm sorry to hear that you can't be on the map but I hope that you get back soon. And I'm curious, what are you teaching them in a cool down for how long are you teaching them.
Because it's really crazy that a cool down, which is just basically, we think it's just a feel good thing to make you sleep better that night, but people are seeing long term benefit just from doing a cool down and tell us more about the cool down you're doing. Well, like my professor he has shoulder issues so I'll concentrate on the shoulder. And sometimes he won't even do it and that's the only way I can get him to do it is if I concentrate on shoulders, but everyone likes with the belt, especially with the neck and the hamstring exercises. But my favorite of course is, you know, the, what we call it the happy baby but the spider guard, every time we do spider guard, I got to do that one.
They just. It's just something that that everyone enjoys. You must, you have a, you have a really calm and soothing voice. So you must be delivering the cool down really well with you know with the breathing and the presence and everything.
Otherwise, I don't think we would see that great results right. Right. And, you know, I'm a black belt so I kind of tell him you got to do this and you know they'll do it. I can do this in the class and he's helpful.
I can make fun of him. And it just makes it really relaxing for everybody. Yeah. That is beautiful.
I would love to see that film like I would love and that's true for everybody. So, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please And Laura, you're taking completely different classes. And this is this is unexpected for me that you guys have really taken this to to 70 year old ladies and the hundred plus kilo crossfit guys. And, you know, it's I think it's super, super, super cool.
I know when I came back and the professor didn't do the yoga after class, everyone's chanting yoga, yoga. So I think I've got a change in there. Yeah, yeah, he definitely shows that that's that's a recurring theme in today's Zoom call that everybody misses you when you're gone. That's a good sign.
That's that's when you're making it into a business. That's a that's bad because you can never go to vacation because everybody will hate whoever you have as a substitute. They will hate it. So it's that is that is a luxury problem, but it is a problem.
Adam. Yeah, yes. I was covering when I was in Norway looking after the farm. I was covering Bruno's Jiu Jitsu classes because Bruno was traveling.
So it was like just I was like covering a yoga for me, JJ instructor as well as like covering two people. It's really cool. I've been teaching yoga at the War Room School of Jiu Jitsu. So I boyfriend suggested school.
It's been great. It's been I think one of the things that surprised me was how receptive everyone was. And like legit, even to this day, I've been doing it for months. Like I started it the week after level one.
Right. Which was back in May, I think I've been doing it like since then and every like after every class, like people say thank you. And they really like it. And people come up to me, telling me what hurts.
And I've told them so I do a 20 minute cool down at the end of class at the end of like Monday, Wednesdays, because that's when we have live rolling. And we have eight minute rounds of live rolling before that for like about an hour and a half or so. So I tell them like, look, if you have any specific issues that you want to like work on, like, like pull me aside from one of the eight minute rounds during like look rolling and we can just do like some yoga together. Like and people do that with me and it's really fun.
Yeah, like in terms of in terms of like a fun kind of a funny challenge. So I don't know if any of you have tried to teach yoga to kids. Right. Right.
So we have we teach both. We have to just do class for both kids and adults and for one of the tournaments back in like May or June or something. My professors like okay kids we have a very special treat for you guys. Miss Muriel is going to teach you guys a little yoga cool down so that you can stretch out the for the tournament.
And it was a complete disaster. Like the meat like, I don't know with kids like they try their sweet. I love them. They just, I think at that point they just can't pay attention anymore.
And the best part was like Shavasana which is the easiest part. Okay. Okay, everybody, lie down and I want you all to close your eyes. And I just see 30 pairs of eyes to Google.
I was just staring at me on the ground and I'm legit go up to like two people and I'm like, close your eyes, and then they're just staring. So, so yeah, teaching yoga to kids. I'm not saying never again but but probably not for a really long time it just didn't work. Otherwise, all the adults have all really liked it and enjoyed it.
Yeah, so that's how I've been so far. Thanks. I just want to say I don't teach yoga for kids but I do leave classes in our gym. So I take certain positions and portions of yoga.
I create like Sarah said, an animal based explanation. And what they're supposed to look for. And we like a play like a game so I say, oh, hide the turtle and walk around make sure you can't move so we can flip your turtle so they have to base out right get your knees. So they kind of learn that through that so I incorporated kind of last so far done that.
So they're balancing their butts so it's really good for their stability so like if you have kids classes maybe it's a good thing to throw that in. Just an idea.
